COUNTIES (1993)

I begin to live in interesting times, as I take a job requiring lots of travel for trade shows, my second marriage fails, and I end up unemployed and homeless.

Trip Details:
  • Flew to Fort Myers for a DC Comics wholesaler's meeting, outbound flight stopping in Atlanta, inbound flight stopping in Nashville and Chicago.
  • Moved by air to Chicago.
  • Flew to Newark, New Jersey, then drove to Parsippany for a trade show; while there, drove to Philadelphia suburbs to deliver merchandise to QVC.
  • Drove to Atlanta for trade show.
  • Flew to Dallas for trade show, plane stopping in New Orleans and Houston (later drove through both cities).
  • Flew to Charlotte for trade show, flight stopping in Pittsburgh, then to Newark for trade show in Manhattan, flight stopping in Baltimore (later drove through all cities).
  • Drove to Atlanta for another trade show.
  • Drove to Neil Gaiman's farm in western Wisconsin to pick up several thousand signed copies of Sandman #50.
  • Drove to Kansas City and back to recover my possessions after my second wife left.
  • Drove to San Diego, via Austin, for trade show; returned to Chicago via Spokane, Washington, and got fired when I returned because of personality conflicts with the boss's wife.
  • Drove to Kansas City, then Dallas, then to Richmond, Virginia via Chicago.
  • Drove back to Dallas via Indianapolis.
  • Moved to Tulsa.
  • Moved back to Dallas.

During this year, I also visited Kansas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma while not visiting any new counties; thus, I visited 33 states in one year. That's my record.

Somehow, when I did the maps, I got my numbers wrong; the text above is correct.
