From Varsity Pride
The Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl currently serves as the NCAA Division III national championship game; for details on that game, see NCAA Division III National Championship Game. Prior to the creation of the playoff system, the game served as the West Region championship in the NCAA College Division from 1969-1972. The first two games were held at campus sites (Wittenberg hosting in Springfield, Ohio in 1969, Capital hosting in Columbus, Ohio in 1970), while the final two games were held in Phenix City, AL.
