The University of Colorado at Boulder Buffaloes compete as members of the Pacific-12 Conference in NCAA Division I FBS football and in NCAA Division I basketball. Colorado is a public institution located in Boulder, Colorado, just northwest of Denver. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 24,000.
The campus is located southeast of downtown Boulder, roughly bounded by Arapahoe Avenue to the north, CO-93 (Broadway) to the west, Baseline Road to the south, and US 36 (28th Street/Denver-Boulder Turnpike) to the east. US 36 turns into a freeway at the intersection with Colorado Avenue on the edge of campus, making Colorado one of the rare college campuses with immediate freeway access. Folsom Field (53,600) is located right in the heart of campus, on Colorado Avenue a quarter-mile west of US 36. Coors Events Center (11,000) is on the southeast side of campus, on Regent Drive a block south of Colorado Avenue.
Colorado's main rival, as much as the average Colorado fan might be loath to admit it, is Colorado State. Their secondary rival now would appear to be Utah, with whom they joined the Pac 12 in 2011. The teams have not met in football since 1963, but prior to that had played almost every year since 1903. Until 2011, that secondary rival position belonged indisputably to Nebraska, and indeed most Colorado fans deemed the Huskers their "main" rival even though Nebraska fans scoffed at the idea.
Colorado has provided 208 players to the NFL over the years, including P Mitch Berger, WR Cliff Branch, OLs Pete and Stan Brock, LB Chad Brown, WR Boyd Dowler, DB Mark Haynes, DB Rod Perry, P Tom Rouen, QB Kordell Stewart, and G John Wooten. Fifteen former Buffaloes have played in the NBA and ABA, led by Chauncey Billups, Scott Wedman, and Jay Humphries.
