The Morgan State University Bears compete as members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in NCAA Division I FCS football and in NCAA Division I basketball. Morgan State, a historically black college, is a public institution located in Baltimore, Maryland. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 6,000.

The campus is in the northeast portion of Baltimore, tucked between MD-41 (Perring Parkway) and Herring Run north of Clifton Park. Exit 6 (US 1) off I-83 is four miles southwest of campus; exit 13 off I-895 is four miles to the southeast. Hughes Memorial Stadium (10,001) is on Morgan Campus Drive, the eastern loop which parallels Herring Run, just south of Cold Spring Lane. Talmadge L. Hill Field House (4,250) is just to the southwest, across the main quad.

Coppin State is Morgan State's primary rival in basketball, while Howard and Delaware State are their main foes in football. Morgan State has an intersectional rivalry with Grambling State as well.

Morgan State has sent over 40 players on to the NFL, including tackle Rosey Brown and Hall of Fame LB Willie Lanier. Only one Bear has played in the NBA, but he had a pretty good career; Marvin Williams spent 12 years in the league.
