VANTAGE POINT

lyrics: J. Morse © 1983

From where I stand, I can see the sea
And the land and the sky that circles above me
Nothing can hide from the wind
And the tide, all of this, I see clearly

The mountains rise majestic, but
Still below my view
The waves roll in and out in time
Directed by my cue
Nothing can evade my sight
All is shown to me
The highest peaks of mountains and
The lowest depths of sea
(Higher. . .) My vision soars into the sky
(Clearer. . .) Are the images in my eye
(Stronger. . .) Are the thoughts which carry me away
(Help me!) I can't take this one more day
And as my Vantage Point grows further away
I long to go back to see my live the way
It was one distant day. . . long ago

Going back in time I'm just
An ordinary man
Trying to make a living the
Best way that I can
I set my visions on my paper
Timed and rhymed
Then set the poem to music let the
Song invade your mind

And then one day my perception began to expand
Wasn't long before things got way out of hand
I began to see things from very far away
It's still a mystery to this day
(Higher. . .) My vision soars into the sky
(Clearer. . .) Are the images in my eye
(Stronger. . .) Are the thoughts which carry me away
(Help me!) I can't take this one more day
And as my Vantage Point grows further away
I long to go back to see my live the way
It was one distant day. . . long ago
