The Lamar University Cardinals compete as members of the Southland Conference in NCAA Division I FCS football and NCAA Division I basketball. Lamar, formerly "Lamar Tech", is a public institution located in Beaumont, Texas, about 90 minutes east of Houston. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of around 9,000.
